What's Next?

Well yes that's a good question...What's Next?

Sally was the first to ask it in her Facebook entry on the day after I summited...she didn't waste any time asking that question!  But then Sally knows me best, having been my longest best friend and substitute sister for the past 41 years.  She knows what makes me tick and I think it's about time she got into another adventure with me...so watch out for the challenge Sal!

Since I have been home there have been a few more people ask the same question - right after they ask how was it, in jumps "the question".

Mmmm....I do have something brewing in my mind and would love Louise and Sally to join me on my next big life challenge but I have a heap of research to do before I make a commitment...so you can both relax for a while :)

  1. Great read Ann! I see I'm not alone in thinking you are wasted in insurance and that you should take up writing... I'm not sure if I should be scared or not, but I am VERY interested to hear what is brewing for your next challenge....

  3. Sounds like you had a great expedition to hike Kilimanjaro. Now you have done the journey to climb Mount Kilimanjarowhy not trek to base camp at Everest?

    1. Well I actually was thinking of doing EBC next so started reading about it and it doesn't sound like it would be as much of a challenge as Kili and too commercialised with accommodation etc. I have also been reading up on Everest Advanced Base Camp as an option. Just looked at your site and the Island Peak option looks interesting.

  4. Thank you so much for posting about your journey! I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and irritable bowel syndrome when I was 27. I am now 29, and my husband and I have been living and working in Tanzania for the last year. He's always wanted to climb Kilimanjaro, and I questioned whether it was possible for me. It wasn't until I read your blog that I had hope that I could actually succeed. We just got back from climbing on the Lemosho route. It was definitely one of the most painful experiences of my life, but I kept repeating your mantra "It's only pain. I don't quit because of pain." With lots of prayer, repetition, and encouragement, my husband and I both made it to the top! We did the climb as fundraiser for the secondary school where we work here in Tanzania, taking pledges per meter. We are so happy to see all the money now coming in so that our school can have a boys dormitory. Your story was the only one I could find of someone with fibromyalgia making it to the top of Kili, but it was enough to give me that final nudge to try. I hope my story will likewise encourage someone with fibro to try something they didn't think was possible. Thanks again! ~Linda

    1. Hi Linda,
Sorry it has taken so long for me to reply, you must think me rude. Somehow your posting went into spam and I have just found it. Better late than never. I am overwhelmed that I inspired a fellow fibromyalgia suffer to climb Kili, it brought tears to my eyes. Well done girl, now you know you can do anything you put your mind to.
      Cheers Ann
